Extra Sessions

Subject to availability extra sessions may be booked to start at the beginning of a new term or after a half term break.

Notice

Half a working terms written notice is required; (this does not include main school holidays or half term holidays).  If notice is not given a full half terms fees will be charged in lieu of notice.  Please understand that the nursery has to be strict about this and there can be no exceptions. (please note if your child is on the government nursery education grant we will then have to charge our full sessional cost, as we will not receive funding for your child if they no longer attend the nursery).

Refreshments

The children will be provided with drinks and we ask each child to bring in a piece of fruit every session for snack time.

Settling your child at school

It is very important to us that our new children settle in happily; we therefore have a flexible policy on settling children in to ensure that this first experience of school is a good one.  Some children take to pre-school easily, others may take time to settle.  You will be invited to visit the school with your child for his or her play date and you may be asked to stay during the first few sessions until your child is happily settled.  During this process be guided by us, your child and by your own feelings.
It does help if you explain to your child that you are coming, and a little about what to expect.  For instance, you might want to explain that each session will end and that each child is collected to go home (your child may think that you will not be coming back!).  Please tell us anything that you feel will be helpful and discuss any concerns or questions with us.

Parent/Carer involvement

In acknowledging that you have the greatest knowledge of your child, we aim to establish and maintain an effective partnership with you for the benefit of your child.  We will keep you informed of activities and events.  We will discuss any concerns that may arise and we invite you to do the same.

Record Keeping

Your child’s activity and progress will be observed, recorded and assessed on an on-going basis, using an EYFS Learning Journey for his or her activities.  If you would like to discuss any matters during the school year you are welcome to make an appointment with your child’s Key Worker who will be happy to discuss things with you.

Key Worker

Your child will be allocated a key worker, this person is there to enable your child and you as parents to build up a special relationship with one member of the staff team.  They will settle your child into nursery to increase their confidence and security within the setting, and liaise with you as parents about every aspect of your child’s care.  The Key Worker is also responsible for maintaining the Early Years Foundation Stage Learning Journeys that records your child’s achievements at Blossom.  Sometimes we do find that children may like another key worker more than the key worker allocated to them, this is not unusual and not a problem, as all the staff at Blossom are trained to watch over all the children and acknowledge all of the children’s achievements.

OFSTED Inspections

The school is registered with OFSTED and has regular inspections by them.

Future Schooling

We maintain links with local schools in order to help us prepare children for the next step.

Appraisal and Training

We are constantly reviewing the activities that we offer, as well as our own performance, in order to maintain and enhance the high quality of our provision.  We have regular staff meetings to help us assess training needs and the implementation of our policies.  We attend courses on current aspects of childcare and education, such as those provided by Surrey County Council.
